Kañamu Pacha Hortisol Terra Preta Potting Soil
Kañamu Pacha Hortisol is a sustainable "ready to grow" system, which supplies the plants with all important nutrients and trace elements throughout the entire vegetation, flowering and fruiting phase. Subsequent fertilisation is not necessary during the entire cultivation. It helps the plants to achieve optimal growth and a rich development of all active substances and ingredients. The rich soil life in the form of micro-organisms, fungi and micro-organisms ensures healthier plants, which are naturally more resistant to pests and diseases. The buffering effect of Hortisol compensates for fluctuations and cultivation errors, thus ensuring consistently high quality with consistent yields.
Application
Kañamu Pacha Hortisol is a highly specialised Terra Preta-based growing medium for urban gardening and the cultivation of medicinal plants. It can be used in a pot, smartpot, planter or simply in a greenhouse. Store in a dry place (long-term under roof).
About Kañamu Pacha
Kañamu Pacha combines quality with quantity and helps the beginner to the professional to a novel and innovative way of urban gardening of an organic and medicinally sound end product with a rich development of all ingredients and active substances.
Many people have a small garden at home or grow plants on the terrace, balcony or in some other form. The question arises as to what kind of soil one actually wants to use. Many simply go to the DIY store and buy a bag of potting soil or garden soil. But have you ever asked yourself, "What am I actually buying and how is this "soil" actually made?" That's exactly what we did and took a close look at what's actually in this supposed soil. When you look at the back of the bag, you quickly realise that mainly decomposed peat in all variations is used here. Peat contents of 80 % and more are not uncommon.
What is peat?
Peat is only formed in peatlands under very specific environmental conditions and these are very complex and unique habitats that have evolved over a period of thousands of years. In order to extract the peat, extensive areas of peatland are drained and this sensitive ecosystem is destroyed forever. Now the dry peat is extracted with huge excavators and what remains is a barren, desolate desert that is slowly filling up with water again. A unique habitat has thus been destroyed forever.
In summary, the bag from the DIY store is a mixture of nutrient-poor fibre chaff and unnecessary chemicals. We can only say bon appétit to the delicious tomatoes that we love to grow on it. The hobby gardener will now think that he has bought the good soil from the specialised trade and well-known manufacturers quickly give the impression of a sustainable, biologically harmless product by using names like "Bio..." and "Natural". But far from it! The use of these terms in product names is unfortunately not subject to any legal restrictions. However, all this is pure marketing, the soil inside the bag hardly differs from the DIY store soil, except that here the fertiliser content has been significantly increased in order to provide nutrients for even heavily consuming plants.
The Hortisole
But there is an alternative, the hortisols. Hortisols are soils that have been cultivated sustainably for centuries. Examples are old monastery gardens, old farm gardens, but also the terra preta fields of the Indians in South America and the recently discovered Nordic Dark Earth of the Elbslaven in Germany. Here, very fertile, nutrient-rich soils were created that completely eclipse other soils. These soils were created through the deliberate use of compost, dung, charcoal and clay residues. We asked ourselves, "Is it possible to harness this hundreds of years of knowledge?" The result is Kañamu Pacha, a one hundred percent peat-free, sustainable, fertile, organic and living hortisol.
Regional production and organic certification
Kañamu Pacha is made largely from recycled, regional raw materials, many of which already meet EU organic certification. We use composted plant material from organic farming, vegetable charcoal and recycled brick chippings as basic ingredients. The bulk of the nutrients come from Terra-Preta compost, with a small amount of organic horn shavings added to boost the nitrogen content. The result is a black, nutrient-rich soil that contains all the important micro-organisms and fungi to ensure that the plants are supplied with all the essential nutrients on a sustained basis. The excellent storage capacity of the substrate creates a nutrient buffer from which the plant can constantly help itself while microorganisms replenish the buffer.
The advantages
The advantages for the user are obvious, no time-consuming re-fertilisation with complicated fertilisation schemes, no problems with over- or under-fertilisation and reduced water consumption with optimal supply to the plant. In addition, Kañamu Pacha is virtually free of pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, antibiotics, hormones and heavy metals. Kañamu Pacha is a sustainable "ready to grow" system, which supplies the plants with all important nutrients and trace elements throughout the entire vegetation, flowering and fruiting phase. It helps the plants to achieve optimal growth and a rich development of all active substances and ingredients. All the user has to do is ensure the water supply of the plant.
