What is a Rosin Press?

As the name suggests, a raisin press is a press that works without any solvents, only with pressure and heat. With the press you are able to make your own raisin for dabs etc.. The press works with two plates that are heated and then press your plant material together, resulting in the finest concentrates. You can either adjust the pressure or operate the raisin press manually, depending on the model. The temperature can be set to the exact degree.

In principle, you can place all kinds of plant material between the plates. In this respect, flowers, buds, pine, hash, leaves and cuttings should be mentioned. It should be mentioned that the quality of the plant material determines the result. In general, the plant material, the temperature and the pressure settings determine the final result. The raisin can be used as a dab after a few minutes of cooling. For storage you should Silicone container or use specially coated wrapping paper.

What do you need for pressing?

- Rosin Press
- Power supply
- Baking paper / parchment paper
- Possibly Rosin Bags
- Plant material

As with almost every process, there are tools that make the production even more qualitative. Simple baking paper is enough to wrap the plant material, but you can make your work easier with sturdy paper with a special coating. You can increase the quality of the extract with raisin bags. These are fine sieves made of heat-resistant plastic, which are available as ready-made filter bags or can be bought as sheets to fold and sew.

The function of these raisin bags is that the pressed raisin is filtered and the plant material is held together. In this way, the pressure is distributed evenly and the pressing proceeds without any problems. These bags are available in different mesh sizes so that you can get the maximum out of them depending on the plant material. The mesh size is indicated in microns or micrometres.

How is the pressing done?

Set up the Rosin Press in a safe and stable position and plug in the cable. 2.
2. Switch on the Rosin Press and define the desired temperature and pressure settings.
3. Wait a few minutes for the plates to heat up.
4. Place the plant material between baking paper / parchment paper - use additional Rosin Bags if necessary - and place the whole package between the two plates.
5. The pressing process can now be started.
6. Stop the pressing process when the rosin flow decreases.
7. Leave the raisin to cool for a short time and then enjoy or store.
8. The remains of the pressed material can also still be used. Taste and effectiveness are of course lower.

In addition to the quality of the plant material, the ratio of pressure and temperature is decisive. These settings vary depending on the starting material and must be determined for each composition. The aim of each pressing is to have as many aromatic terpenes as possible in its concentrate. Terpenes disappear quickly with heat. With increased pressure, the temperature can be reduced and thus more terpenes remain in your extract. Depending on the settings you make, you will produce different types of raisin, varying in consistency, structure and purity.

The result of your pressing is influenced by four parameters:

- Temperature
- Pressure
- Duration of pressing
- Quality and properties of the plant material

Advantages of a Rosin press

- Solvent-free
- Low effort
- Easy to handle
- Fast implementation
- Pays off in the long run

Some methods use solvents with chemicals such as butane or isopryl alcohol to extract raisin from the plant material. These agents can be harmful to health if not used properly and safely. With a raisin press, no solvents are needed for extraction, only heat and pressure are required.

Depending on the model, size and possible yield per pressing, a Rosin press does not cost very little. However, the investment in such a device will pay off for you in the long run if you make regular use of Dabs. In the long run, it is definitely cheaper to produce concentrates yourself than to always buy them.
