About Bowantri

Our company history began with the search for a grinder that would become 100 % wood should exist.
Since the wooden grinders currently available on the market only have simple wooden pins as grinding tools, which tear rather than grind the ground material, and the only alternative was plastic or aluminium as material, we had only one option:
We had to produce our own grinders!

That's when the first question came up: "Which type of wood will stand up to our high demands?"

After much research, we came across an African hardwood that can easily withstand both the mechanical stresses of grinding and the thermal stresses of smoking.

So now the question was, "Is logging damaging the forests in Africa and if so, where do we get this wood sustainably?"

The answer was found quite quickly: Through upcycling!
We discovered that the wood species bongossi is used in huge quantities in industry, e.g. in the form of fence posts, railway tracks or even bridges.
Due to its extreme hardness and resistance to weathering, we are able to reuse old wood that is no longer needed by industry and upcycle it for our products.
This allows us to offer high-quality smoking accessories made of solid wood without having to interfere with nature again.

Sustainability

Not only in the procurement of our raw materials, but also in the storage and packaging of our products, we aim to operate as plastic-free as possible.

We only ship our products with insulation made from recycled cardboard to avoid polystyrene flakes.
Only our glassware is shipped in bubble wrap. But here too, we don't buy new ones, but use the packaging we receive from our partners with our glass deliveries.
