How does a dab rig work?

With a dab rig, it is possible to follow the growing trend of dabbing. If you are not familiar with the term dabbing, it is the vaporization of previously extracted plant material or concentrates. This form of smoking is, if done correctly, particularly gentle and significantly less harmful than the normal smoking process with a joint or bong.

Before you can start dabbing, it is very important to work with the right tools. Since you are working with high temperatures, it is extremely important that the selected dab rig or the selected Dab Nagel is of the highest quality. Here is a list of all the necessary utensils.

• Dab Rig - There are two options here. You can either buy a dab rig. These often have a quartz or titanium nail already installed. The second option is to upgrade a bong you have already bought with a banger or nail and convert it into a dab rig. This will be discussed in more detail below.
• Bunsen burner or E-Nail - As a rule, a normal burner is completely sufficient. The control of the temperature is completely in your hands and with enough experience you can easily find the perfect method to optimally adjust your dab temperature to your needs.
• Dabber - Most extracts are rather sticky in nature, so it is essential to work with a high-quality dabber. These are available in a wide variety of designs. Whether with a pan, a point or a ball at the end, our selection of dabbers is guaranteed to have the right one for you.
• dab material/extracts - Can be made yourself or purchased from your trusted CBD retailer. There is now a wide selection of dab products from the CBD sector, leaving nothing to be desired.

CAUTION! When choosing a nail, it is of the utmost importance to choose a high-quality product. This is because low-quality products can splinter. And we can assure you that it is a very tricky situation when a ceramic nail shatters at around 300 - 400 degrees and lands on the couch or carpet.

How Dabbing Works Properly

In this instruction, dabbing with the help of a Bunsen burner is described. In addition to this method, there is also the possibility of dabbing with an E-nail or a dab pen. However, these alternative methods are covered in a separate article. Here is the process of dabbing with a dab rig:

1. If you want to start dabbing, all the accessories should be within reach. First, heat the glass or titanium nail with the burner. Hold it still and keep it there until the nail turns red.
2. Now you have to wait until the nail cools down to the optimal temperature. If the nail is made of titanium, about 10 - 20 seconds is enough. For quartz or ceramic nails, the optimal waiting time is about 40 - 50 seconds. You can of course wait even longer, because the cooler the nail is, the more pleasant the dabbing experience will be for your lungs.
3. Now it's time to use the dabber. Ideally, this should already be loaded with the extract so that you don't have to sweat while the nail is cooling down by scratching up the concentrate. Once you've waited the right amount of time (depending on the nail), you can guide the dabber to the nail pan. You don't even have to hold the dabber directly to the nail, because you'll see that if it hovers just above it, the dab will melt all by itself and run into the pan.
4. (Optional) If you have a carb cap, you can place it on the nail pan after removing the concentrate to seal it and waste as little of the valuable extract as possible.
5. Inhale! Breathe in evenly and you will see that the longer you let the nail cool, the smoother and more pleasant your dabbing experience will be.

Different Types of Dabbing Rigs

There are basically two different forms of dab rigs. On the one hand, there is the original dab rig, which is designed specifically for this purpose and can usually be bought with an integrated quartz nail. It is usually rather compact in shape and comparable in size to a bubbler.

Then there is the possibility of converting a normal bong into a dab rig by equipping it with a dabbing banger or a titanium nail. This type of rig is becoming increasingly popular, as many dab newbies already have a bong at home and really only need a suitable banger or nail to convert it accordingly. The biggest advantage of this method is that it is cheaper and there is one less part lying around at home.
