Bong cleaning - this is how it's done!

It's inevitable, sooner or later it will be time to clean your bong. A clean bong not only looks nice, but also lets you taste and feel your herbs better again and prevents possible lung infections etc.

How often should you clean your bong?

In this respect, it depends on your consumption pattern and how clean you want to smoke. After all, there are people who are very fussy and then there are the more "hardened" types of people who can put away a dirty chillum. In principle, however, we would advise you to change the bong water daily and to rinse your bong thoroughly. The actual cleaning, let's keep it realistic, should take place once a week. You will see that if you clean your bong regularly, the weekly cleaning will not take much time and you will not always have to attack with hard means.

Which agents / bong cleaners can you use?

There are special cleaning products like the Sour cream waywhich are designed to clean bongs and pipes thoroughly so that they shine and sparkle. But below we want to introduce you to products and product combinations that are normally considered household items etc. but which you can still use for your bong cleaning. These household products achieve the same beautiful end result, only the duration of the cleaning and the repetitions may vary compared to the special products.

Dishwasher tabs: This method is easy and cheap as well as effective. You can use any type/brand of dishwasher tabs. It is best to place the bong in the sink and put a tab in the bong. Then fill the bong with hot/boiling water. After waiting for half an hour, your bong should look like new. If any residue remains, simply repeat the process or use a brush. Not suitable for acrylic bongs.

Isopropyl alcohol and Epsom salt: This is one of the most thorough methods available. You will need a bottle of 99% isopropyl alcohol and a box of Epsom salt. Then you should mix a mixture of alcohol, salt and water well in the bong / shake the bong well. You may have to repeat the process a few times, depending on the degree of contamination. The salt acts as an abrasive and the alcohol as a solvent. You can find the ingredients for this cocktail in pharmacies, on Amazon and the like. Only suitable for glass bongs.

Mouthwash: Fill the bong with mouthwash, let it work for a while and then shake it. Particularly suitable for acrylic bongs.

Pure isopropyl alcohol: Let your dirty bong or pipe steep in the alcohol for 24 hours and then rinse it thoroughly. One pass is usually enough. Only suitable for glass bongs.

Denture cleaner: All you have to do is put the tablet in the bong, pour water on it and let it soak. A simple and inexpensive way to clean your bong. It is also suitable for any type of bong cleaning.

Warm water and brush: Pour the water into the bong and let it soak for a while to soften the impurities. Then thoroughly brush the bong and the chillum with a brush. This method is very gentle, effective when applied accurately and also suitable for acrylic bongs.

What is the best way to clean your bong?

First of all, it should be mentioned right away that not every cleaning method and every cleaning agent is suitable for every type / material of bong. Some cleaning agents can be very sharp and aggressive and, for example, damage the material of acrylic bongs. Glass bongs, on the other hand, have a good compatibility with all kinds of cleaning agents. Furthermore, boiling water deforms acrylic bongs and the glass of glass bongs can also be damaged if the glass is of inferior quality or if there are already small cracks. Therefore, the temperature should be set a little lower. With glass, you should also be careful when shaking and cleaning with the brush, because even if there are already stable glass bongs, it is still glass in the end. Last but not least, you should always clean your bong in a safe place, such as the sink, etc. After all, you only want to clean your bong and not an entire room.

1. rinse your bong properly with water. This will remove the surface residues.

2. Depending on which of the above-mentioned methods you use, the next step will be different. In general, however, you can say that you have to close all holes with cloth and tape, cork or special blind plugs, available here in our shopor special blind plugs. Now fill the bong with the mixture of your choice.

3. Swivel/shake the bong thoroughly to remove as much residue as possible. This process can be repeated several times if the bong is extremely dirty.

4. Some hard-to-reach areas may still be a little dirty. Then you need bong brushes / pipe brushes, available here in our shopto be able to clean these areas as well. This works best with a little alcohol and brushes of different sizes, as the chillum, for example, should also shine.

5. Last point but very important! Rinse the bong well with water after cleaning. It's better to rinse once more than once too little, because the residues of the cleaning agents can be a real health hazard.

Keep bong clean for longer - avoid heavy soiling as a preventive measure

With these simple tricks, you can save yourself the trouble of regular basic cleaning. As already mentioned above, you should empty your bong after every use and rinse it properly. This slows down the formation of deposits. For stubborn water stains, you can swish your bong with vinegar or hot water and lemon juice for a few minutes. After swishing, you can let the mixture soak for a few more minutes. Finally, rinse your bong with hot water and let it air dry. Another option is to add a few drops of lemon juice to the bong water during use. The reason for this is that lemon juice prevents build-up and ensures that the water does not start to smell. However, do not overdo it with the lemon juice, otherwise it will distort the taste and aroma of your herbs.

Our last preventive tip is to add a little oil to the bong water. It doesn't matter what kind of oil you use, olive, sunflower, etc. Any oil will do the trick. Any oil will do the job, because oil binds some of the impurities that are created, making it harder for them to adhere to the inner wall.
